Original Sample Books
Sample books were produced by both manufacturers and "jobbers" (as the distributors were called), gathering hundreds of full-scale printed paper examples to market the new patterns and palettes every year.
Heavy and unwieldy, they served as showroom displays as well as handy tools for the travelling salesman. Produced in the hundreds of thousands, very few survive today. We include here selections from a few of the dozens in our archive.
