We are delighted and honored to be presenting the work of M.H. Birge & Sons at an exciting conference in October - Frank Lloyd Wright and the Buffalo School of Arts & Crafts.
Part of the city-wide celebration of the 150th anniversary of Frank Lloyd Wright's birthday, this international conference is presented by the New York State Arts and Crafts Alliance hosted by the Department of Art at the University at Buffalo, SUNY.
In his presentation, Bo Sullivan will reveal the unique position Birge (and several of its key employees) played amidst the hotbed of Arts & Crafts activity in and around Buffalo just after the turn of the 20th century - think Charles Rohlfs, the Roycrofters, Heintz Art Metal, Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin House and Larkin Building - and Stickley brothers in every which direction. However, the role of Birge is virtually forgotten, even in Buffalo.
The agenda for the conference is shown below. We hope you can make it.
