3-Band Gilt Floral Border

A typical example of a multi-band border paper common in the late 1880s into the 1890s, this example is activated by the embossed paper surface which causes the gold metallic highlights to sparkle as the eye moves.  The small fragment becomes almost abstract as there is only a hint of the repetitive character of a multi-band border.
