An exotic diaper pattern of interlocking modified lozenges full of arabesques draws directly from Moorish art and is a rare survivor from the Orientalist craze of the 1880s. The shimmering mix of four different metallics with the bold, ivory pattern lines results in an Aesthetic-era knockout.

M.H. Birge & Sons led the market with their mid-1880s suites of coordinating Moorish wall and ceiling papers, which while historically inspired were richly colored in the olives, ochres and drabs that were popular at the time. Beautiful production on high-quality papers made their work a standard by which others were judged.

Mounted on ¾” bamboo plywood panel. Pattern No.1036-2.

While this piece has been sold, we have more of this fabulous paper and can make another piece of wallpaper art, either using this sort of panel treatment or we can arrange for a custom frame based on your requirements.  Please inquire.
