Mosaic Metallic

A unique hybrid of the Aesthetic Movement and the ancient world, "mosaic" patterns had the conventionalized appearance of being made up of small fragments of tile, stone or iridescent glass. Our own fragment of a 2-band mosaic border paper from the late 1880s features four different metallic colors in a rich palette of tertiary colors typical of the period.
